Ownership of the work
The Author retains full copyright and intellectual property ownership of the article, commentary, analysis, or other work (“the Work”) submitted to Policy Praxis (“PP”). Nothing in this Policy transfers ownership of the Work to PP.
License granted to Policy Praxis
By submitting the Work, the Author grants PP an exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to be the first publisher of the Work, in English and/or Bangla, in connection with the Site and PP’s official channels (including its website, social media, PDF/print compilations, and archival copies). This license includes the right to:
- review, copyedit, and format the Work in accordance with PP’s house style;
- translate the Work between English and Bangla for the Site’s bilingual presentation;
- add illustrations, headings, pull quotes, and standard editorial elements;
- publish, distribute, promote, archive, and index the Work on the Site and PP’s official channels.
Exclusivity
PP holds the sole and exclusive right to publish the Work for the first time. The Author agrees not to publish the same Work, in full or in substantially similar form, on another platform prior to, or simultaneously with, its publication on Policy Praxis. Once the Work is published on the Site, the Author is free to share, reproduce, or republish it elsewhere, provided that Policy Praxis is credited as the original publisher, with a link to the original piece where practicable.
Attribution and moral rights
PP will credit the Author by name (and, where provided, affiliation and byline) on all published versions of the Work. The Author’s right to be identified as the creator of the Work is respected and will not be waived by this Policy.
Author warranties
By submitting the Work, the Author confirms that:
- the Work is original and has not been plagiarised, in whole or in part;
- the Author holds all necessary rights to submit the Work, including permissions for any quotations, images, data, or third-party material included;
- publication of the Work will not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party, and will not be defamatory or unlawful.
The Author agrees to indemnify Policy Praxis against claims, losses, or damages arising from a breach of these warranties.
Editorial discretion
PP reserves the right to edit the Work for length, clarity, accuracy, and house style. Substantive changes affecting the meaning or argument of the Work will be shared with the Author for review before publication. PP also reserves the right to decline to publish, or to withdraw from publication, a submitted Work at its editorial discretion.
Compensation
Unless otherwise agreed in writing between the Author and Policy Praxis prior to publication, contributions are made on a voluntary, non-remunerated basis.
Removal or takedown
The Author may request removal or correction of a published Work by contacting the editorial team. PP will consider such requests in good faith, balancing the Author’s request against the Site’s role as a public record of published scholarship and commentary; removal is not automatic or guaranteed once the Work is public.
Governing law
This Policy is governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, without prejudice to any mandatory rights the Author may hold under the law of their own jurisdiction.
Changes to this policy
PP may update this Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of submission governs that submission.
